Crystallizer copper tube, steel throughput 8100 tons!

The crystallizer copper tube is the heart of the billet continuous casting machine and the key to ensuring the safe and smooth steelmaking pouring operation. After the No. 5 machine of the steelmaking plant was completed and put into production, the technical staff actively explored ways to increase the amount of copper tube steel passing through. By continuously improving the accuracy of equipment, optimizing the selection of copper tubes, and strengthening the dynamic management of crystallizers, the efficient and smooth production was ensured. At present, the maximum amount of steel passing through a single copper tube for casting 160 square billets has reached 8100 tons. Compared with the initial production of the No. 5 machine, the amount of steel passing through has doubled. At the same time, the cost of copper tube spare parts has been reduced by about 0.85 yuan/ton, with significant results.

A number of measures have been taken to increase the amount of steel passing through. Through in-depth research, the problem of top damage caused by deviation of the guide rod trajectory was solved; when pouring or pouring, the operator placed the cold material accurately and orderly to avoid vibration of the crystallizer and scratching the copper tube during billet drawing; according to the actual equipment and process, the back taper of the crystallizer copper tube was increased to assist demoulding; through water quality optimization and standardized management, the various indicators of the crystallizer cooling water were improved to ensure uniform heat exchange in the crystallizer; the online control of the copper tube was strengthened, and the wear status of the copper tube was detected in time to create conditions for increasing the amount of steel passing.
